Man missing in river after bridge row named
SuppliedA man who ended up in the River Tyne following a row on a bridge has been named.
Dean Larvin, from Gateshead, was last seen at about 22:00 BST on Friday, Northumbria Police said.
Officers said a group of people had been involved "in an altercation" on the Redheugh Bridge beforehand. It has since been established the 39-year-old left the scene before entering the water a short time later.
A 48-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and section 18 assault. She was released on bail as the investigation continues.
A search operation is in its fifth day, with police marine units and specialist teams from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service involved.
"He has sadly not yet been found, and Dean's family continue to be supported by officers," police said.
Det Insp Ash Loader, from the force's major investigation team, said: "Our efforts to find Dean are very much ongoing, however it is not possible to provide any timescales around locating him."
