Family members jailed for operating drugs line
West Yorkshire PoliceFive members of a family who ran a drug line supplying cocaine across Calderdale have been sentenced for their roles in the operation.
The men, based in the Pellon area of Halifax, referred to themselves as "The Hardy Boys", West Yorkshire Police said.
Samran Ali, 28, Arbaaz Ali, 27, Balaval Ali, 26, Atif Hussain, 44, and Abu Chaudrey, 26, admitted being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and were sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on 3 July. Four were jailed while one received a suspended sentence.
Det Insp Helen Chapman from West Yorkshire Police said the men were "behind a significant organised crime group".
Cousins Samran Ali and Arbaaz Ali headed up the organisation, according to West Yorkshire Police.
The pair were among 16 people jailed in February 2025 for their role in a violent street brawl in Halifax, but resumed their roles when they were released on licence.
While they were in prison, the running of the drugs line was handed over to Arbaaz's younger brother, Balaval, and their uncle, Atif Hussain.
Abu Chaudrey, a cousin, acted as a runner for the group, delivering deals of cocaine to customers across Calderdale at the direction of others.
Police seized £7,000 in cash, a "quantity of cocaine", electric scales and "a large amount of dealer bags" when they raided several homes linked to the men in Pellon on 12 February, when they were arrested and remanded in custody.
West Yorkshire PoliceSamran Ali, of Eldroth Road, Halifax, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison.
Arbaaz Ali, now of Queens Court, Bradford, was jailed for seven years, one month and 25 days.
Balaval Ali, of Mayfield Terrace South, Halifax, and Atif Hussain, of Gibbet Street, Halifax, were each sentenced to three years and three months in jail.
Abu Chaudrey, of Mayfield Terrace South, Halifax, was given a 24-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months.
