A man has appeared in court charged with harassing Gen Kitchen, the MP for Wellingborough and Rushden.

The man, aged 38, appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court on Monday for allegedly sending malicious communications to the Labour MP, having been arrested on 15 May.

Northamptonshire Police said he also faced three further charges - two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker and one count of possession of cannabis.

He has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Northampton Crown Court on 29 June.

Kitchen, 31, was first elected after winning a by-election in 2024, and retained her seat in a general election in July of the same year.
