Lisa Hale believes she now has claim to a rather unique world record - the fastest half marathon run by a woman dressed as a body part.

The 49-year-old, from Drayton, Oxfordshire, completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon earlier this month - all while dressed as an enormous pair of ovaries.

She ran the 13.1-mile (21.1km) course around the capital in two hours and 26 minutes in memory of her mum, who died of ovarian cancer in January 2024.

As well as completing the route, Lisa also now believes she holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest female half marathon run dressed as a body part.

The people behind Guinness World Records are understood to be verifying her claim.

"I am a little bit proud of myself, but now we've got to wait for it all to become official with that certificate," Lisa said of her potential record.

'Amazing'

Lisa jokingly nicknamed herself Wonder Wombman - a tongue-in-cheek portmanteau derived from her enormous costume and the Amazonian DC Comics heroine.

She said the start of the race had been "amazing", but while waiting to set off she had been thinking "how have I got from an impulsive decision back in November to... actually being on the start line attempting a Guinness World Record?"

"But what I was really worried about was the wind," she said.

"It was a windy day and that thing (the costume) is like a sail - I could have taken off and ended up in the River Thames."

On completing the course, Lisa said she had been left thinking "oh my goodness I've done it".

"I saw my fiance there and I saw my best friend there and she was crying so I started crying," she said.

"Then we just got the medal, saw everybody off and then went to the pub."

Lisa had hoped her exploits could raise £3,000 for Target Ovarian Cancer, which spreads awareness, funds research and supports those affected by the disease.

But she exceeded that target, raising a total of £4,600 for the charity.
