Green light to convert bingo hall into hotel
Google MapsPlans to convert a former bingo hall in Newark town centre into a hotel have been approved.
Part of the top floor of the Castle Gate Centre, which was last occupied by Pery's Bingo Hall, will be turned into a 42-bed hotel, after the proposal was given the go-ahead by Newark and Sherwood District Council.
A dedicated hotel entrance, accessed from Lombard Street, is set to be built on the ground floor of the building, developer Castlegate Newark said.
A new staircase and lift leading up to reception and the rooms are also set to be built.
Documents stated that a mezzanine level with 12 rooms would also be created at the centre of the main space to "accommodate sufficient guest rooms".
The hotel won't include "full dining facilities", documents added.
