Murder suspect due in court after pub assault

Emergency services were called to The Old Bank in Northampton in the early hours of Sunday

A man is due in court charged with the murder of a man who was assaulted in a Northampton pub at the weekend.

Northamptonshire Police said Paul Hughes, 59, was attacked inside The Old Bank, in St Giles Square, between 01:45 and 02:30 BST on Sunday.

He died in hospital on Monday.

Louie Oliver, 22, of Holcot Lane, Sywell, will appear at Northampton Magistrates' Court.

A 23-year-old Northampton man also arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail, pending further inquiries.
