Firefighters tackling large scrapyard blaze
Firefighters are continuing to tackle a large fire at a scrapyard in Barnsley, which broke out on Saturday night.
Footage shared on social media showed huge plumes of black smoke billowing across the sky from the blaze in Boulder Bridge Lane, Carlton.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (SYFRS) said it was called to the area on Saturday evening, with 10 engines, an aerial ladder platform and a number of operational support vehicles deployed to the scene at its peak.
It said the fire involved quantities of scrap metal and tyres, and advised people living nearby to keep their windows and doors closed.
The service later said crews were expected to be at the scene for the remainder of Sunday.
In an update at 13:15 BST, SYFRS said Boulder Bridge Road was closed and would be "for several hours", adding that drivers should avoid the area if possible.
