Man in serious condition after street fight

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a fight involving five men in Leicester.

Police said they were called to reports of the confrontation shortly before 03:00 BST on Saturday in St James Road, near Evington Road in Evington.

Officers said a man in his 30s remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition while another man in his 30s was discharged with minor injuries. A third man was also discharged from hospital before police arrived.

Two other men, aged 38 and 36, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and remain in police custody.

Leicestershire Police said a scene remained in place in the area while inquiries into the fight continue.
