Former knitwear factory to be turned into 54 flats
GooglePlans to convert a former factory complex in Leicester into flats have been approved.
Planning documents outlined proposals for the change of use of the former knitwear factory known as Vinola House at 191 Ross Walk in Belgrave.
Officers at Leicester City Council said applicant Diamond Red Limited had submitted plans to convert the majority of the building into 54 flats and office space.
The proposal is made up of 35 one-bed flats and 19 two-bed flats. The development was given the go-ahead by the council on Wednesday.
In documents, developers said the design and internal layout of the site meant it was "no longer suitable for modern day manufacturing", while "significant areas" of the building were vacant.
Single and two-storey additions within the central part of the building and north side would be demolished to create space for a communal courtyard, documents added.
