Fire service tackles large blaze at shipyard

Firefighters are tackling a large blaze involving a number of cars at a scrap metal recycling facility in Belfast's shipyard area.

Five fire appliances and a number of specialist units are at Clearway Disposals on East Twin Road.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said the blaze was reported shortly after 12:00 BST on Wednesday.

Nearby residents and businesses have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed, while people have been asked to avoid the area.

Belfast Harbour Police said it was working closely with NIFRS and staff at the facility.

"We would advise local residents and surrounding businesses to keep windows and doors closed, as a precautionary measure."
