A man has been charged with attempted murder after a cyclist was left with life-threatening injuries following a collision in east London.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital after the incident on Aylward Street in Stepney Green at about 23:15 BST on Thursday. He remains in a life-threatening condition.

Parvez Rahman, 33, from Tower Hamlets, has been charged with attempted murder and failing to stop after a road incident.

He appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody. Rahman is next due to appear at the Old Bailey on 4 September.

A video circulating on social media appears to show a car hitting a cyclist at high speed.
