Tributes to swimming club founder who died after crash

Tributes have been paid to the founder of a well-known swimming club who died in hospital after a collision.

Linda Ashley-Davidson, 73, of Eynesbury, was a passenger in a Renault involved in a crash with a white DAF truck at Abbotsley, Cambridgeshire on 29 June.

Her family said: "Linda was well known in St Neots after being the founder and chief coach of St Neots Swans Swimming Club for 35 years. She also coached at Kimbolton School."

The car driver, an 84-year-old man from Eynesbury, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remained. The lorry driver, a 46-year-old man from Sandy, Bedfordshire, was uninjured.

In a tribute issued through Cambridgeshire Police, her family added: "Linda is survived by her husband, four children and seven grandchildren."

She was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where she died the following day.

The collision happened at 11:52 BST on the B1040 Potton Road.

Officers asked for anyone with any information to contact the force.
