An inquest into the death of a grandmother has been adjourned after new evidence was submitted to the court.

The inquest heard that Linda Sykes, from Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, died at Royal Preston Hospital after suffering two strokes and not receiving a thrombectomy, a procedure used to remove a blood clot from the brain.

The hearing at Preston Corner's Court is examining whether Sykes should have received potentially life-saving specialist treatment

Senior coroner Christopher Long adjourned the hearing after the submission of what was described as a substantial amount of new material.

Her family have described the 74-year-old as a vibrant, joyful and much-loved mother, grandmother and friend.
