Police officer charged with child sex offences

A serving police officer has been charged with child sex offences.

Haydyn Brunsdon, a PC with Durham Police, faces two counts of sexual communication with a child.

The force said he was arrested on Friday and suspended from duty pending a criminal investigation.

The 31-year-old appeared before Teesside magistrates on Saturday and was released on condition bail. He will next appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on 1 October.
