Bus timetables are changing to reflect demand, the bus company has said

People taking the bus in and around Harrogate are being asked to check their journey times as the timetables are set to change.

The Harrogate Bus Company said services would change from 19 July to better reflect customer travel patterns and to improve punctuality.

Routes affected include the 36 Harrogate to Leeds or Ripon service, the 1 between Harrogate and Knaresborough and the 2 between Harrogate and Bilton.

There will be fewer services to and from Pannal Ash and Beckwith Knowle, with buses running every 40 minutes at off-peak times. Buses will still run at every 20 minutes at peak times, the operator said.

The number 4 between Harrogate and King Edwin Park is funded by the developer of King Edwin Park through North Yorkshire Council.

However, the bus firm said that would run out within a few months due to "the current level of service and usage".

The service is to change to every two hours to help extend it and help it become more financially sustainable, it added.

The route will now operate along Burley Bank Road, serving Pinemoor Caravan Park and Harrogate West Business Park.

The 21 between Knaresborough and Boroughbridge is also affected, with fast trips set to run through Staveley from next month.

Anyone due to travel is urged to check the timetables before doing so.
