Flight numbers up ahead of busy weekend for ports
BBCJersey Airport is expecting more flights in and out of the island this summer compared to last year - with this weekend expected to be one of the busiest of the year, Ports of Jersey has said.
It said it was because airlines were investing in new routes, while maintaining existing links including new offers from Loganair, KLM and Jet2, creating 7% more flights for 2026.
Ports of Jersey added the return of Easyjet's route to London Southend reflected "ongoing confidence" from airlines and travellers alike.
On Thursday, EasyJet said the airline would not be affected by jet fuel shortages this summer but said people were booking flights later because of the uncertainty caused by Iran-US war.
Kenton Jarvis, from the company, told the BBC travellers should not panic as the airline had no issues with fuel supplies, adding people could book with confidence.
Easyjet said its Jersey bookings were "in line with previous years" and there were no plans on making any changes to its Jersey flights.
Ferry provider DFDS said there had been an increase in its bookings made since the Iran-US war began in February and that it was "closely monitoring bookings" to ensure it met the demand.
"DFDS has the flexibility to add additional services if required," a spokesperson said.
