First stage of £1.2m leisure centre upgrade complete
Everyone ActiveWork on a £1.2m project to improve a leisure centre with new gym equipment and studios has completed its first stage.
Woking Leisure Centre is due to receive upgrades including new treadmills, bikes and facilities as part of plans to modernise the space.
The upgraded gym has now re-opened, a spokesperson said, with further improvements expected to be completed by the middle of this spring.
Daniel Healy, contract manager at operator Everyone Active, said: "We're thrilled to complete the first stage of Woking's refurbishment and unveil exciting new spaces that will enhance the experience for all our members."
He added: "These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing top-quality facilities that support the health and wellbeing of the local community."
Woking Leisure Centre's gym was closed on 14 March for the refurbishments, while cycling studios closed in early March for two weeks to allow improvements.
The improvements have been funded by Everyone Active as well as Woking Borough Council.
Contracts to run the leisure centre, finalised in September 2025, raised questions in light of the council's £2.6bn debts.
