Leisure centre's £1.2m revamp to begin this month
NLCA £1.2m refurbishment of a leisure centre is due to begin later this month.
Work on the Riddings Community Hub, in Scunthorpe, includes upgrading the swimming pool and changing facilities, as well as making "significant structural improvements" to the roof and building, North Lincolnshire Council said.
The pool will close on 17 July while the gym, library and other facilities inside the centre will remain open for a further six weeks. The revamp is expected to be completed by February 2027.
Council leader Rob Waltham said the investment would modernise the venue and help secure its future for years to come.
"We've invested significantly in leisure across North Lincolnshire over recent years because we know these facilities play an important role in helping people live healthier, more active lives", said Waltham.
The authority said areas of the centre had to close to "allow the work to be carried out safely".
Once shut, the library would be "temporarily moved" to ensure services remain accessible, though details of the relocation are yet to be disclosed.
A council spokesperson said customers would be supported to use alternative leisure centres while the refurbishment was taking place, and staff would be temporarily redeployed to other locations.
