The Scottish Conservatives have unveiled their manifesto for the Scottish Parliament election on 7 May.

Below are some of their key policies.

Top priorities

  • Cutting tax bills
  • Raising school standards
  • Delivering faster GP appointments
  • Fixing roads
  • Employing more police officers

Cost of living

  • Raise point at which Scots pay income tax on their earnings
  • Tax breaks for low, middle and high earners
  • Allow pensioners to claim back the first £500 they pay in tax on their pension income
  • Extended childcare for parents

Economy

  • Invest in employability services targeted at those living in poverty
  • Support nuclear energy plants in Scotland and back North Sea oil and gas drilling
  • Impose a two-child cap on the Scottish Child Payment
  • Speed up planning decisions and cut red tape
  • Reduce business rates
  • Cut the size of the Scottish civil service to 2016 levels
  • Set up a Scottish Agency of Value and Efficiency tasked with saving at least £500m a year

NHS and care

  • Guarantee of a GP appointment within 48 hours
  • Reduce waiting lists and increase screenings of at-risk Scots
  • Above-inflation funding increase for NHS and bring back recently retired doctors and nurses to deliver procedures
  • Fast-track roll-out of NHS app
  • Greater access to weight-loss drugs
  • Improve access to menopause and endometriosis services

Immigration

  • Reverse policies that make it easier for asylum seekers to access housing
  • Scrap free bus travel for asylum seekers

Democracy

  • Oppose a second independence referendum
  • Stop the Scottish government from overturning planning decisions made by local people
  • Ban "woke" roles within the public sector, such as diversity and inclusion officers

Housing

  • Abolish Land and Buildings Transaction Tax - a levy paid when someone buys property or land over a certain value
  • Establish "re-population zones" to support Scottish communities whose existence is under threat due to population decline
  • Scrap any new costs imposed on households as a result of net-zero targets
  • Oppose introduction of the Building Safety Levy - a tax on housebuilding
  • Scrap rent controls

Justice

  • End "soft-touch" sentencing and early release schemes for prisoners
  • Increase stop-and-search powers for police
  • Treat organised crime gangs like terrorists
  • Domestic abuse register to monitor abusers
  • Reduce court backlogs

Education

  • Maintain free tuition but consider "alternative systems" to ensure Scottish students are not at a disadvantage when applying to university
  • Protect exam-based learning
  • Increase college funding
  • Abolish Education Scotland
  • National ban on mobile phones in schools and free music lessons

Environment

  • Abolish "unaffordable" net-zero target for 2045
  • Multi-annual funding for fishing
  • Ditch government policies that encourage a reduction in meat and dairy products
  • Allow communities to say no to new pylons and make them the option of last resort for energy infrastructure projects
  • No more government-backed rewilding projects

Transport

  • Remove free bus passes for anti-social behaviour
  • Extend the Borders Railway and the re-open old railway stations
  • Create a new ferry procurement scheme and invest in the Ferguson Marine shipyard so it can attract private backing
  • Fix potholes and ban low emission zones and speed up upgrades on trunk roads

Defence

  • Protect Scotland's defence industry
  • Double the Scottish Veteran Fund
  • Increase punishments for war memorial vandals
