A car has been seized after police found the driver had been on the road for "nearly 48 years without a valid licence".

Warwickshire Police said the BMW 520d was intercepted by officers on the A444 Jimmy Hill Way near Bedworth.

It said the driver, a 64-year-old man, had first applied for his provisional licence in September 1978, but had never taken or passed a driving test.

The force reported the man, who was not supervised or using L plates, for driving other than in accordance with a licence.
