Firefighters rescue dog from water-filled ditch

A labrador which fell six feet (1.8m) into a water-filled ditch and was unable to climb back out, has been rescued.

Firefighters in Nuneaton used water rescue equipment along with an extension ladder to get to the trapped dog.

He was rescued and reunited with his owners, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said on Thursday.

"Firefighters reached the labrador, secured him safely, and successfully rescued him from the ditch before reuniting him with his relieved owners," a spokesperson added.

"A fantastic effort by the crew, demonstrating how the skills and equipment used to protect our communities can also make a real difference when our four-legged friends find themselves in difficulty."
