Driver dies and two hurt in two-car collision

A man has died and two other people were seriously hurt following a collision involving two cars near a Hampshire village.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the incident happened near Heckfield on the A33 Basingstoke Road, just north of the Duke of Wellington statue, at about 10:00 BST on Sunday.

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 50s, died at the scene. His next of kin have been notified. A man and a woman in their 20s - who were in the other car - were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The force has appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
