Volunteer firefighters stop blaze spreading to homes
A volunteer fire crew has helped stop a blaze in a field blowing over to houses and allotments.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to Rectory Lane in Peakirk, near Peterborough, at about 15:35 BST on Saturday.
Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade, which works with the county service, was first on the scene.
Anthony Gould, its chief officer, said: "We were kind of in the thick of it, it was hard work for everyone involved."
