Emergency services were called by a member of the public

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died from what police described as "significant injuries".

A member of the public called emergency services at about 23:00 BST on Saturday following an incident at Ayton Crescent, in Eston.

Cleveland Police said the injured man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 39-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the death with efforts being made to locate a second suspect.

Supt Daryll Tomlinson said officers would remain at the scene as part of what he described as a "fast-moving investigation".

Cordons have been place, with an increased police presence aiming "to provide reassurance to the community".

The probe had been supported overnight by the National Police Air Service, he added.
