Three in court charged with shooting murder

Three people have appeared in court charged with murdering a man in a shooting.

Peter Phillips, 47, was found dead at Ayton Crescent in Eston, near Middlesbrough, on Saturday at about 23:00 BST, with Cleveland Police saying he died from a single gunshot wound.

Tony Gaffney from Ambrose Road, Middlesbrough, and Jonathon Spencer from Normanby Road, Middlesbrough, both 39, along with 38-year-old Annaliese McQuilling from Ayton Crescent, Eston, appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Friday.

No pleas were entered and a trial, estimated to last up to three weeks, was listed to start on 25 January 2027.

The trio were remanded into custody and are due to appear at court again on 27 July to enter pleas.
