A former police officer has been charged with perverting the course of justice over allegations he failed to investigate a road traffic incident.

Michael Meade, 41, who was a police constable based in Calderdale before he resigned, is accused of committing the offences between January 2022 and May 2023.

He was charged after an investigation by the West Yorkshire Police Counter Corruption Unit under the direction of the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Meade, who is also charged with theft and two counts of accessing policing systems contrary to the Computer Misuse Act 1990, is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
