Deadline looms for responses to new local plan

Residents in a Surrey town have a few more days to share their ideas about how it might look from next year until 2044.

The local plan will guide future decisions about areas in Woking including housing, jobs, infrastructure, transport and the environment.

Woking Borough Council (WBC), which was recently credited for making substantial improvements to its performance, is gathering views to help identify the right priorities for the borough.

Councillor Louise Morales, WBC's portfolio holder for planning policy, said this exercise was "an important opportunity to influence the priorities that will guide future development in Woking".

The consultation builds on earlier engagement carried out in 2025, when residents shared their priorities and vision for how Woking should look in 2044.

Feedback received during that exercise has been analysed and used to inform the current consultation, which remains open until 16 August.

The council will then publish a summary of the feedback received which will help prepare the next stage of the local plan.
