Office block in Woking to become care home

An office block is set to be turned into a 76-bed care home.

Woking Borough Council has approved plans to tear down Lion House on Oriental Road.

Developers say the new centre will help bring dignity to the growing number of people living with dementia in the area.

The applicants said only three people opposed the plans, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The care home would also create 75 full-time jobs into the area, including chefs, gardeners, carers and nurses, Woking Borough Council's planning committee heard.

There would be a maximum of 30 staff on site at one time due to the nature of their shifts.
