Three people have appeared in court charged with murder after a man was hit by a car near Barnsley.

Liam Green, 45, was struck by a white VW Touareg on Rose Tree Avenue, Cudworth, at about 17:00 BST on Friday and died at the scene.

Mark Wigley, 60, Sarah Louise Wigley, 38, and Neil Shaw, 53, all of Royston Road, Barnsley, did not enter any pleas at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday.

They were remanded in custody ahead of their next appearance on 25 June.

In a tribute released after Green's death, his family said they hoped he was "at peace now".

They said: "We all love you very much, sending you big hugs from your mam, sons, brother and family."
