Police have been in Tudor Road since the early hours

A man has been taken to hospital after falling from a rooftop in Leicester in the early hours of the morning, said police.

Leicestershire Police said it was called to a report of a break-in in Tudor Road at about 01:15 BST on Sunday, with a man attempting to enter a second property in the street.

When officers arrived, a man was found on a roof, and after attempting to engage with him for several minutes, the force said he fell.

The man was taken to hospital with injuries to his arm, it added.

No arrests have been made, and the force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct watchdog due to the police contact made prior to his fall.

A cordon was put in place in Tudor Road, which has since lifted, but officers remain in the area.

Leicestershire Police said: "Our investigation remains at an early stage and anyone who may have any information can contact police on 101 quoting incident 49 of 19 April."
