A man has been arrested after two men were injured in an assault in Leicester city centre.

Leicestershire Police said it was notified of a fight in Hotel Street at 02:18 BST on Sunday. It said one man was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening but which may be life-changing.

The force said a second man had been assaulted as part of the same incident and reported his phone and jacket had been stolen. His injuries were described by police as not life-threatening or life-changing.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.

A cordon was set up in Hotel Street to allow officers to carry out inquiries, but has now been lifted, police said.

Officers appealed for anyone who may have any information regarding the circumstances surrounding this incident or witnessed what happened to contact the force.
