A woman has died after crashing into another car when she drove in the wrong direction down a carriageway on the M62 motorway, police said.

Her grey Nissan Juke crashed into a grey BMW X5 at 23:00 BST on Saturday night between junctions 21 and 22 in Rochdale.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the Nissan driver, in her 50s, died at the scene, while the driver and passengers of the BMW were treated for minor injuries.

National Highways said the crash has caused delays of 30 minutes with queues back to junction 24. GMP have appealed for any dashcam or CCTV footage.
