National Highways could not say how long the closure of the clockwise M60 would last

There are long tailbacks on the M60 motorway in Manchester where the clockwise lanes have beed closed due to a car blocking the road.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers are at the scene between junction 22 at the Hollinwood Interchange in Oldham and junction 23 Snipe Interchange at Ashton-under-Lyne. The A635 Manchester Road is also closed.

National Highways urged drivers to follow the "solid diamond diversion symbol" on road signs if trying to head clockwise.

GMP said the closure was due to a "broken down car between two lanes", while National Highways added: "Due to the nature of the incident we cannot provide an estimated duration for the closure."

Staff from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance.
