Three more arrests have been made in connection with the suspected murder of a woman who was stabbed in a street in Manchester.

Alisha Samuels, 26, was found dead after officers were called to a disturbance on Dorking Avenue in the Newton Heath area of the city at about 02:00 BST on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Lawrence Johnson, 26, of Dorking Avenue, was charged with the murder of Samuels and the attempted murder of a man.

Earlier two men, both 19, were arrested on suspicion of murder and a 48-year-old woman was held on suspicion of assisting an offender, Greater Manchester Police said.

Det Ch Insp Justin Bryant said: "We remain focused on establishing the full circumstances and want to reassure Alisha's loved ones that we are committed to securing justice for her.

"My thoughts remain with Alisha's family and friends as they continue to come to terms with this devastating loss."

The detective renewed an appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
