The southern section of a main route out of the Isle of Man's capital has once again closed to traffic after being opened temporarily at the weekend.

The entire stretch of the A18 Mountain Road will now remain shut until Friday for the continuation of resurfacing and maintenance works, tree felling and preparations for the Isle of Man TT.

The Department of Infrastructure had reopened the road between the Creg Ny Baa and the Bungalow on Friday afternoon with work suspended on the section during the period.

The full stretch of the route is set to reopen no later than 15:30 BST on Friday, it added.

Access to the cafe and Snaefell Mountain Railway at the Bungalow is available throughout the closure.
