New bus routes are launching in Leicestershire

Two new bus routes will launch in Leicestershire this month, while timetable changes are planned across a number of other routes.

From Monday 13 April, the LC17 route will run from Wigston and Glen Parva to Fosse Park and Meridian on the edge of Leicester, while the new LC13 will link Coalville to Leicester via Groby and Glenfield Hospital.

Ann Carruthers, director of environment and transport at Leicestershire County Council, said the changes followed consultation with passengers and bus firms.

She added: "The changes support connections to health and education sites, local attractions and focus on improving punctuality."

The LC13 service will be operated by Arriva, while the LC17 will be run by Centrebus.

As well as the two new routes, passengers are being advised to check before they travel, as a number of of changes to timings and routes will be coming into force.

Council-subsidised routes LC6 Hinckley to Coalville, LC12 Witherley to Market Bosworth to Measham, LC15 Coalville to Leicester and LC16 Loughborough to Shepshed and to Ashby-de-la-Zouch are all seeing revisions to services.

In addition, Arriva is updating some timetables from Saturday 11 April on the 27/28 Leicester to Ratby, 29/29A/X29 Leicester to Swadlincote, 31/31A/X31 Leicester to Oadby, and 44/44A Leicester to South Wigston and Wigston Magna.

The 44B/44S Leicester to Kibworth, 47/48 Leicester to South Wigston and Wigston Magna, 49 Leicester to Fleckney, and 84/85 Leicester to Lutterworth or South Wigston routes will also have timetables updated.
