Men attack boys with keys between their fingers
Cambs PoliceTwo men who attacked a group of teenagers and stole a bicycle have been convicted.
Declan Hyland, 29, Imran Ali, 41, and another man ambushed the three boys on a bridge between Ivatt Way and Bourges Boulevard in Peterborough at about 5pm on 18 April.
They repeatedly punched them, using keys held between their fingers as improvised weapons, and made off on one of the bikes, a Carrera worth about £600.
Hyland, of no known address, admitted robbery and two counts of attempted robbery and was jailed for five years at Cambridge Crown Court on 12 October. Ali, also of no known address, denied the same counts but was found guilty following a trial at the same court and will be sentenced on Monday.
The third man involved in the attacks on the boys has not yet been identified.
The boys sustained minor injuries, including cuts caused by the keys that were used as weapons.
Det Con George Corney, from Cambridgeshire Police, said: "This was a nasty attack on three teenage boys that understandably left them extremely shaken.
"For three men to attack and rob a group of young boys, who admirably tried to defend themselves, really is cowardly."
