Train services through Hertfordshire have suffered disruption after a minor crash and cable thefts.

Signalling cables were stolen from Hitchin on Wednesday night, Network Rail said, which led to problems on the Great Northern, LNER and Thameslink lines.

In a separate incident, a train hit buffers at Liverpool Street station, causing delays on a number of lines out of London.

Greater Anglia said the Stansted Express and trains to Hertford East were affected, with some trains terminating at Bishop's Stortford and Stratford.

Transport for London said an out-of-service London Overground train was involved in "a low-speed collision" at about 01:00 on Thursday and the driver sustained minor injuries.
