Police said the stretch of road would remain closed for "some time"

A jack-knifed lorry has closed part of the A38 in Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Police initially said the route was shut southbound between Little Eaton and Palm Court on Thursday afternoon, but has since confirmed the closure is at the exit for Kilburn.

Officers added one lane northbound is also closed as a result of the central reservation being "damaged and pushed into the outside lane".

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and take alternative routes.
