A man has been arrested following several reports of dogs being dangerously out of control in a village in Surrey, police say.

On Thursday, Surrey Police said it had investigated a number of incidents in Send and arrested a man in connection with four offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

The man was issued a caution, an anti-social behaviour warning letter, and a warning about dog ownership and keeping dogs under control, the force said.

Police said this meant any further offending could be dealt with through both criminal and anti-social behaviour laws.

A spokesperson from the force said: "We understand that incidents involving dogs can cause significant concern in our communities, particularly where people feel threatened or injuries occur.

"We hope this outcome provides reassurance that reports of dangerous dogs are taken seriously, and that positive action will be taken where offences are identified and the evidence allows."
