Bus operator 'very sorry' for recent disruption
BBCGuernsey's bus operator, Stagecoach, has apologised for recent service disruption.
Some bus users had complained about a new timetable which they said led to long waits, cancellations and the bus app not updating with changes.
Stagecoach said two major road closures and schools returning after the summer had contributed to the issues with the new schedule, which was made in partnership with the States of Guernsey.
Stagecoach South West managing director Peter Knight said he was "very sorry" for any disrupted journeys or inconvenience which he said were "regrettable".
'Carefully monitoring data'
Concerns from passengers included missed stops, the length of journeys and busses not arriving.
One parent told BBC Guernsey her son was not collected for school and another said her child was late for sixth form as his journey took an hour and 40 minutes.
Knight said Stagecoach was "carefully monitoring" data on where customers were getting on and off the bus.
"We have to remember that we changed the network in consultation and partnership with the States of Guernsey a couple of weeks ago," he said.
"The schools went back a couple of weeks ago and there's been two major road closures that a lot of the bus network runs on in the last weeks as well.
"There's been a lot of change in a very short space of time."
Stagecoach took over the running of the island's bus services in April 2025, after it replaced CT Plus, which had operated the buses since 2012.
Knight apologised for recent disruptions but said Stagecoach was "performing very very well" since it took over in 2025.
"We have delivered 99% of the miles that we were scheduled to operate and although it's regrettable that there is any disruption or journeys cancelled, there's an important context just to bear in mind," he said.
"We have been fixing what we need to fix in the background and we obviously have a contract with the States of Guernsey to deliver this bus service in line and accordance with a number of key performance indicators.
"Those have been met and delivered every month since we took this contract over in April."
He added: "There's a number of things that we can do, but there's also a number of things that we will be doing in partnership with the States of Guernsey, as well as the technology provider who provide the app and the website and the tracking systems."
