New 20mph speed limit for city's school streets
Getty ImagesNew 20mph speed limits zones have been put in place near primary schools in Coventry as part of a scheme to make school streets safer.
Coventry City Council issued the experimental traffic regulation order, which came into effect on Thursday, for 18 months.
The four roads included in the order are Bush Close, Jardine Crescent, Loder Close and Shepherd Close.
The council said the order would be reviewed at a later date to either abandon the speed limits or make them permanent.
The order was put in place to compliment the council's School Streets scheme, recently introduced on the four roads to improve traffic, air quality and road safety.
The scheme also aims to encourage children to walk and cycle to school.
Any objections to making the order permanent must be made in writing by 15 October, said the council.
