A man has been charged with attempted murder after a car hit several people on a busy shopping street in west London.

Five people were injured, with three taken to hospital, following the incident on Ealing Broadway at about 14:30 BST on Saturday. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.

Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, of Grange Park, Ealing has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, as well as dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and criminal damage.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court.

The Met Police previously said it was "keeping an open mind as to any potential motive".

Footage from the scene shared on social media showed paramedics treating people on the road as dozens of shoppers looked on.

London Ambulance Service said several crews and an air ambulance were involved in the response.

It said three patients were treated at the scene, with one then taken to a "major trauma centre", while two others were taken to a local hospital.
