'This baby's tragic death must not be forgotten'
CrimestoppersPolice have reappealed for help to "get justice" for a newborn baby boy found dead in a canal five years ago.
The identity of the infant's mother is still unknown following the discovery of his body in the Wyrley and Essington Canal at Rough Wood Country Park, near Willenhall, Walsall, on 20 May 2021.
West Midlands Police said it was possible the baby could have been in the canal for a few days, and asked for people with information to get in touch via a dedicated page.
"This baby's short life and tragic death must not be forgotten," said Det Insp Matt Marston.
The force said it had acted on "every bit" of information it had previously received about the case.
Last year, the charity Crimestoppers offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
West Midlands PoliceOfficers were appealing again to the local community and the wider public to "help us get this baby boy justice", police said.
Marston added: "We understand that it might be hard for some people who have information to contact us. We know this might be difficult.
"We have set up a dedicated web page where information can be securely shared with us if you're not comfortable talking with us on the phone.
"We'll always act upon any new information provided to us. Please, if you have any information get in touch."
