Parking restrictions have been recommended to be introduced in two areas of Lincolnshire.

Members of the county council's planning and regulation committee have recommended that a bus stop clearway should be put in on South Street in Casitor, along with a no waiting at any time restriction at the junction with Mill Lane.

The councillors also recommended that a series of no waiting restrictions should be introduced in Hollywell Road, in Waddington, in a bid to improve traffic flow and road safety.

The proposed restrictions have been recommended for approval and the executive councillor for highways and transport will make a final decision at a later date.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the bus stop clearway in Caistor would be effective from 07:00 until 20:00 Monday to Saturday.

It has been recommended after officers visited the area following concerns parked vehicles on both sides of the road were obstructing the flow of traffic and obstructing access to the bus stop.

Ward councillor James Bean said: "At a recent town council meeting it was mentioned that the bus service was disrupted recently when there was so much parking in this area that the bus couldn't actually get around the corner – so I fully support this recommendation."

In Waddington, Hollywell Road is proposed to have a no waiting restriction between 08:00 and 18:00 Monday to Saturday, with a no waiting at any time restriction at the Sherwood Drive junction.

Three bus stop clearways, which would be operational at all times, have also been recommended to be introduced in Hollywell Road.

A council meeting on Monday heard there had been six objections to the proposals with some residents raising concerns they would significantly reduce available parking for people with properties without driveways.

However, bus operator Stagecoach East Midlands said the proposed restrictions would improve reliability of journey times and safety for public transport users.

Councillor Charlotte Vernon said: "I do obviously have tremendous sympathy for those who might not be able to park outside their home anymore, but the reality is we have to protect these bus routes."
