Leisure centre reopens after 15 hurt in chlorine leak
BBCA leisure centre in Derby has reopened after a chlorine leak, which saw five adults and 10 children taken to hospital, prompted an evacuation.
Emergency services, including a specialist environmental protection unit, were called to Moorways Sports Village and Water Park in Moor Lane, Allenton, at about 13:40 BST on Thursday.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters detected a chlorine leak in the plant room. They ventilated the area and monitored the levels of fumes until there were no elevated readings, the service added.
In a statement on social media, the leisure centre said it would be reopening at 12:00 on Friday.
It added: "The investigation into the incident is ongoing and while this is the case, we are unable to provide any further detail.
"We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by the closure and thank our customers for their patience."
Fifteen people were taken to hospital for precautionary checks after reporting breathing difficulties, the fire service said.
Osmaston Park Road was closed to the junction with Moor Lane while emergency services responded to the chlorine leak, with drivers asked to avoid the area.
Meanwhile, all swimming lessons, water park visits and other bookings at Moorways were cancelled for the rest of the day.
