'Super gran' completes marathon walk for charity
Gail WardA grandmother described by her family as "super gran" has raised hundreds of pounds for charity by completing her latest marathon distance walk.
Anne Pemberton, 85, took on the challenge on the coastal path from Marazion to Mousehole and back, twice over, last month - completing a total distance of 26.2 miles. (42 Kilometres)
The grandmother from Portscatho in Cornwall finished the hike in 10 hours with her daughter Gail and granddaughter Lulu, raising over £1,200 for Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Their scenic route has views of St Michael's Mount throughout -she said it was her "positive mindset" which got them over the finish line.
"I was totally determined to complete it – not finishing was not an option," she said.
"I feel very proud and I am quite overwhelmed by the level of support that the challenge has received.
"It's a fantastic amount to be passing on to the Cornwall Air Ambulance, I am very grateful to everyone who has donated."
The super gran last walked a marathon on the Camel Trail when she was 82 and covered the entire Cornish coastline on foot with her daughter between 2021 and 2022.
Gail WardAnne does as much as she can to stay fit and well, walking her goldendoodle dog, Tash every day and sticking to a healthy lifestyle.
Her daughter Gail said her mum has a "very positive attitude" and was encouraging the team the whole way around.
She said: "My motivation was to prove to myself that I can still do it, to show others that our age should not define us, and also to use the challenge to raise money for the Cornwall Air Ambulance, which offers an incredible service and needs our support."
