Police are investigating a suspected break-in at the house where two children died in a fire.

Two boys, aged one and three, died at the scene in Mason Street, Wolverhampton, on Friday. A woman and and two other children were already out of the property when emergency crews arrived.

A woman arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of two children was released on bail on Sunday.

On Monday, West Midlands Police said it was thought someone had forced entry to the house at some point overnight. It was unknown if anything was taken.

Officers were carrying out house-to-house, CCTV and forensic enquiries into the suspected break-in.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at about 20:30 BST on Friday.

"Our work to investigate the cause of the fire at the property has concluded and the investigation into the deaths of the two boys continues," the spokesman added.

Floral tributes have been left at the scene which police have described as a "truly tragic" incident.
