University's subject areas ranked fifth in guide

The University of Wolverhampton has achieved its highest ever position in the Guardian University Guide, rising 41 places to 67th.

It also saw three subject areas - education, business and management and graphic design - ranked fifth in the 2027 guide, while criminology was ranked 10th.

Prof Ebrahim Adia, vice-chancellor of the University, called the recognition a "significant milestone."

"This result reflects the hard work and dedication of colleagues across the institution, the success of our students and graduates, and our continued commitment to delivering excellent outcomes," Adia said.

"It is further evidence of the positive momentum we are building and the progress being made across the university as we continue to strengthen our teaching, support our students and create opportunities through education, research and innovation.

"Being recognised as one of the UK's top three highest climbers and achieving our highest-ever position in the Guardian University Guide is a significant milestone for the university," the vice-chancellor added.

The league tables rank institutions by subject, looking at student satisfaction, staff numbers, spending and career prospects.

The latest ranking adds to a year of success for the university, it said, having secured third place in the 2025 English Social Mobility Index and ranked ninth in the UK for overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey in the past 12 months.
