Two women have been seriously injured after a car crashed into a wall causing damage to a shop.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to the A432 Stapleton Road in Easton, Bristol, at around 04:10 BST on bank holiday Monday to reports that a silver car had collided with a wall near Fox Park.

Police said two women who were in the car went to hospital, one with potentially life-threatening injuries.

They want to speak to people who witnessed the crash, including the driver of a car, believed to be a taxi, which stopped at the scene.

"The road reopened by 12.30pm, but the damaged wall of a shop will remain cordoned off following advice from a structural engineer," police said.
